I saw one on CL in the next town over a few weeks ago but the pic was horrible so I had no idea what model it was, looks cool though. How is it? Does it sound good? :hmmm:

i had at least 4 of these models.. there nice compact full featured boomboxes.. they also have a dedicated AUX IN.. only issue i had with them is the CD portion would skip and have flutter issues due to poor design.. but i wouldnt pass one up if i see one at a decent price.. it's smaller than it looks.. just the right wieght for carrying.. if you see one in the wild.. dont hesitate to grab it..

hey TMR or anyone :-) ?? :-)

i have a similar size // similar look // panny CD box called the RX-DS650

the main difference is the look of the speakers -
and that the speakers have the "PLATINUM" label

do you know - if platinum speakers were BETTER speakers ??
or was platinum just another ' marketing ' label

thanks

I have one of these and they are not a bad unit. I have seen quite a few on thrifty rounds so I would not say they are rare. As far as value it all depends on the buyer. They aren't powerhouses but sound nice. :-)

Not necessarily...it's the feature set of the box that made the difference and the XBS system. :-)

i recently saw one of these in the thrift store. i gave it a go and it did sound a lot like my ct900 i have kicking around here.
i gave it a pass tho i mean they wanted thirty bucks for it and even tho it was mint its just didnt sound that much different from the ct900 i already have but was a little less bassy.
this could be the difference because if i recall correctly it did not have the panny xbs on it.

I have one of those or the 650, I don't remember, its been in the shop since before Thanksgiving! Apparently it has a shorted power supply chip, repair guy was searching his suppliers to see if he could find a replacement. Paid $5 for it at a tag sale so I'm not going to cry if he can't fix it. I have a DS-30 with common parts so it might come in handy.
