Hello. Some time ago i was searching for 90's boombox or so called ghetobox. Look in lots of forums, watch lot of video and at final i bought Panasonic RX-CT980 model.
Mechanical cassete deck with radio and cd/aux in put. After little service cleaning, lubricating in contacts and mechanic. I got fully working boombox. 2 months before i found info how to little upgrade and start to order parts. This big module goes inside D battery compartment.
In this 2 foto i got
4x 26650 battery holders
4x battery 26650 (5000mah each)
one BMS 4s40A
dc-dc step down module to turn down voltage from 16.8 to 12.5v
bluetooth module -AIYIMA Bluetooth 4.2 Receiver Board CSR8645
Here are instaled battery pack, connected in Power supply board where orginaly goes wires from battery (there are polarity changed, in dc jack to) in my case now central is + and outhside is -
Only there are switch near the dc jack what turns on or off battery power from deck.
Charging works with orginal dc jack, works from 220v main.
This bluetooth module connect straight to aux in. So perfect place to module. No background sound, there is relay who opens when is sound and close when is no sound after some seconds.
View from back side. Only difference is that liitle switch to cut power off or on from deck.
Front side. Radio works, both cassete decks works too, and cd/aux works as bluetooth receiver.
Hope my boombox modernization idea will help someone in future.
P.s there is still last idea to add led light to that monochrome display in future.
My colection.
