Got a Panasonic RX-CT800 boombox today.

it's a nice 3 piece Panasonic boombox-appearing to be from about 1990 or 1991.

It has a lot of features-including:
-2 cassette decks
-5 band graphic equalizer with the following bands:
100Hz
330Hz
1kHz
3.3kHz
10kHz
-volume control
-selector control
-CD/line input jacks (RCA type jack)
-combined editing (high/normal speed dubbing/microphone) and FM mode/B.P. control
-headphone jack
-FM/AM radio
-Tape deck features
relay play
synchro start recording
one touch recording
-speakers can be detached from the main unit
-speakers have a tweeter in each speaker
-has the original marketing labels on each cassette deck

Sound quality when using the 5 band equalizer is very nice.

Panasonic's boomboxes are known for having excellent sound quality-and the RX-CT800 is no exception.

For example:setting the 330Hz equalizer band to to +10 gives a powerful bass driven sound.

:w00t: SWEEET!!! :w00t: I have an 800 also. It's the first step up into the 3-piece Panasonic world more or less. Any box having a multi-band equalizer and LINE-INPUT is a thriller of a find for me. With its EQ,that box actually can be configured to sound very nice. It's not a heavyweight when it comes to bass and output but has a very pleasing sound. I think the people who don't like its sound probably expected it to be a bigger box.The 3-piece design is quite similar to the high end models of the time.

nice looking box --
i think that was the last of the 'pre-platinum' era :-) :-)

Nope it was made in the early Platinum years, just wasn't part of the Platinum series. CT-6/7/8 series were nice, but not like the 9's. Then you got into the DS series. The DT-6/7/8/9 were nicer and varied wildly as well. It's hard to lose with any Panasonic through if you think about it.
