Panasonic RX CS780...is this a good box?

compared to the great 680 ---
its sounds just as good :-)
it looks much cleaner and cooler :yes:

plus --as a few added pluses :-D (to my own taste)

it has a single deck -- :surf:
and i think its the only bi-amp with an analogue tuner

ie = SCORE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

those are not the original speakers.. they are from the DT690.. sure that wont hurt it though.. as long as they attatch with no issues.. i had seen the auction.. but i only have the IPOD Kaboom on the brain hehe.. should be here by the 8th of Feb.. cant wait!!

By golly, you are right! I thought it looked funny, since I don't recall mine looking exactly like that. I even took a quick look at mine just to confirm that it was the same model but still didn't catch the speaker thing.. :lol: :lol:

Anyhow Melly, if you want the inside scoop on whether this is a good box, just ask Peter who happens to be the seller, and is a member here as well as on S2G under the same ebay name (stynger007).

I have a cs780.It gets more use than my dt680 for a number of reasons.This box sounds just like the 680 and has the same bass.Its lighter,shorter,and easier to carry.Also,unlike the 680,the 780 has a DEDICATED line-in.That's just easier than doing the CD out trick as on the 680.Sure,the 780 has no CD player,but you could always patch one in.Besides,I use mp3 mostly anyway.

The RX CS-780 has been one of the best kept secrets.As far as I can tell,it has all the virtues of the 780 with none of the drawbacks of the 680.That's what I call a tip-top score!

...as usual you guys come through with tip-top information. I would have never known about the speaker difference. It looks like the 690 speakers have 3 individual speakers instead of 2. I am hoping that improves the sound, but if the sound is on par with the 680 it is definitely a steal for that price. Thanks for all the great input fellas!!

I thought something was wrong, I have a 780 (tucked away so I couldn't look) which essentially looks like a 680 without a CD player. So that's a hybrid box, nothing wrong with that it's still cool. :thumbsup:
