Well, if the "expert" says it can't be fixed, but the hobbyists here CAN fix it, then what does that say about your "expert"?

Harry. That question is far too general. It's like saying my car doesn't work, can someone tell me how to fix it....

You simply must run it through the paces and be more detailed or specific. Are both channels working when monitoring via the line-outs? Does it have a headphone jack and how does it sound when monitored through that?

I presume that if you brought it to a tech, it must be because you don't feel comfortable working around the insides or else you wouldn't have done that. So I presume even if I could tell you what was wrong, it wouldn't be much help.

If you tell me the engine runs but the rear tires won't spin -- and I tell you to replace the forward clutch packs in your transmission, and clean out the valve body -- could you do it? See the issue?

Harry we are all keen to help, but Super is right on the money here.

Some further diagnostics are needed first.

Is there any audio of any description from the Right channel....hum, buzz, etc.

Is the issue on all inputs, radio, tape, line in?

Are you sure the speaker you are testing the channel with is working?

Have you tested the line out from this channel, if this unit has it?

Can you try to obtain headphones or any adaptor plug to convert the jack?

Why did you take this box to a tech for an opinion....do you want to fix it yourself and is that within your skill level?

Just a few initial friendly questions. :-D

Ok, so if there is no output at all from the right channel it is possible the amp has failed.

But, it could be the signal pre amp....

If I had a friend that you say can fix boomboxes that might be your best bet.

Good luck with it!! :-)
