I have a Panasonic rx-6400 with a broken antenna (last few inches) but I still have the original tip Which is a bit larger because it pulls up and out of the case like the 5500) . I would like to replace the antenna or snip it clean and reinstall the original unique tip. This might be a dumb question but before I mangle this thing can you swap tips on an antenna or should I just epoxy the tip with a bit of the original antenna back into the remaining original antenna? Thoughts?

I would get a similar antenna and swap the tip meaning put the tip you have from the original antenna onto the replacement antenna.

You have to cut the old tip off then peel the remaining metal from around the flange at the bottom of the tip then you cut the antenna to where the flange from the bottom of the tip inserts into the antenna.

You might try heating the antenna and cooling the tip and when you put the two together press fit when it cools down they are locked together.

Pulling out and putting another section is not easy at all. There are two copper shims that stops the travel of the antenna section out from the end lip. It is royal pain in places where the sun don't shine to get those two copper pieces along with the antenna bottom area, in its place. I won't attempt it because I've failed miserably with that technique.

Buy a new antenna or look for a donor. That is the way to go.

This is how it ended up. I crimped the end of the broken section containing the tip and drove the small broken piece that remained on the mounted antenna down into the next section after failing to be able to remove it. I then jammed the broken piece into the antenna. I would have taken pictures if I thought it was going to work. Well it did. There is enough friction to hold the piece in place fine. If it starts to loosen I intend to collapse the antenna by one segment at the top and epoxy it in place turning it from a 5 segment antenna into a four.

Thanks for the...tips.
