Hi all! It has been quite awhile since I posted here. Anyway, I have wanted a Panasonic RX-5150 for the longest time. I finally had one in September 2013, but I ended up being disappointed by some odd issues it had. To make a long story short, I sent it back after having it only two days. Well, last week, I spotted an auction for one on eBay. It was advertised as "100% fully functioning". Thankfully, I woke up just in time as the auction was closing. I ended up placing the final bid at $61.00, winning the auction. I know that $61 is probably a bit high for some standards on here, but considering that I have seen this model go for literally hundreds on eBay before, I was not complaining one bit. The box came in the mail today and I could not be more satisfied!

Aside from the tape deck being a little slow upon arrival (probably a sign of a belt change in the nearer future), everything is working exactly as the seller advertised. This picture does not do it justice, because it looks GREAT!

P.S.: Sorry BoomboxLover48, but no JVC M70 yet. Someday... ;-)

Welcome back! That's a nice version of that box, usually the grilles have a yellowish tinge from fire retardant breakdown, but yours must have been stored away from heat and light for most of its life.

I remember when you posted about that nice RX-5110, I picked up two of them, they're so pretty :-) And LOUD! I ended up getting a 5150 as well but found it difficult to produce adequate highs for my tastes, so I got an M70. I highly, highly recommend

The highs on it are good in my opinion - much better than my 5050 and about equal with the 5110 I'd say. Of course, the highs sound much better when not in a room with nine foot ceilings (my bedroom  )

Ooh pretty! The NP has the same woofer rims my 5110's have. Man, I forgot all the 5150 models, there is one in Japan with darker grills and a Quasar too I think.

That one, with a gorgeous door sticker, for $61.00? I sold mine for $75.00 three years ago, but it didn't look this nice. You guys are right about the highs. I think these have pizio tweeters (the best pizio sound I have ever heard imho.) There not bad, though. They fit the box, to give a rich, balanced sound. How can you go wrong with Ambiance?

First-rate snag, I'd say. :hooray:

Oh, and don't be a stranger! :-P

Nice score DKVII, I have owned the 5500, 5600, and 5250, and all three was top quality sound and build. I always fancied bagging a 5150 after seeing one in John Carpenters 1982 horror The Thing :-) congrats on a great score for not too many ££££££'s

Ooh, I would LOVE to have any of the three models you listed there, ESPECIALLY the 5600.

I no longer own them but I liked the 5500 best  there's just something about the name Panasonic that says quality.

The pizeos on mine produced absolutely no sound whatsoever. :-/ No doubt why the seller sold it. 90% of collectors are dishonest, IMO.

Superduper told me that pizeos eventually burn out for some reason, and then they start bleeding power big time. By replacing them with cone tweeters which are more efficient, your woofers will receive more power too. He did that to his 5150, and it had a lot more bass than mine ever did.

Oh and he also painted his grills graphite metallic. Looked SICK.
