So a month or so ago there was a box full of 8-track tapes in a box at our post office and I decided to help myself to them  I then put in under wanted topics that I was looking for a boombox with 8-track player. I got a couple hits and member THAFUZZ (Adam) said he had a unit he got for barely nothing but 8 -track didn't work...he said he would let me have it for just cost of shipping...So we worked out details and it finally got here yesterday  I went to work on cleaning and restoring her up, she was pretty dirty and after cracking her open and getting into the deck, which this was my 1st 8-track player ever owned or worked on, I seen belt was stretched and off ...So I measured belt and replaced with new one. I finished cleaning switches and pot and tested 8-track player...Crap, it didn't work  So then I tested it for power and it did have 9 volts running to motor. So then I pulled deck to take motor off...After I got motor off I noticed a very unusal name on it....JVC...WOW a JVC motor in a panasonic...I then began to tear motor apart and discovered shaft had quite a bit of dirt on it causing the brushes no contact...So I cleaned motor with soap and water..........................................Got ya  ..................... Alcohol and not the kind you drink  I put it all back together and tested with 9v battery and low and behold it worked  I finished putting it all back together and and replaced broken antenna.....Well, the rest is history :-D :w00t: Check out my youtube video and pics...This thing may look pretty ugly but it sounds damn good for such a small box

Cool!
Glad you got it going.
I have an old Lloyds 8-track player and it sounds great to!
It's great when you fix up stuff that didn't work!
Have a good time with it! :-)

 I'm so happy that it went to a good home and got the love it still deserved. Now, she plays her heart out for you and your family. Rescued from the "As Is" dept. at the GoodWill, and adopted into a great home for Christmas. Ho-Ho-Ho :-D :-D
