Wonder if the grills were originally beige like that, or if they became that way due to age. Seems like a strange color for the factory to use.

The grills on those are naked plastic. Basically, when the front cover was molded, the grill is integral. However, when the front cover was given a coat of silver paint, the mesh portion was not. So over time, the plastic goes all atari, is why they look yellow. Paint them metallic charcoal totally improves the look and protects the plastic from further oxidation and UV exposure.

Those waffle grills on the 5150 killed the looks. If not, that is a very decent unit! I have 3 of those and one is in like new condition.

Oh I knew that's how they were originally....I just didn't know it was because they were bare plastic
