I like Chrysler a lot. Here's my 1979 Chrysler GE Sigma Special Edition. This meant extra brightwork, bumper strips, colour coded wheel covers, a hood ornament and a horizontal metal grille rather than a plastic 'honeycomb' one, and a cloth interior rather than leather
"Australia's most powerful four". At the time, people. Definitely not now :-D
Cue Aussie members to either "aaawww" or "bluuuurgh" about now. Most of AU hate Sigmas and most can remember one in the family.
Chrysler sold the design to Mitsubishi in 1980 who then proceeded to further uglify it.
US chrysler designs are very nice. Sleek, powerful, feminine. I'm thinking of makes like the Imperial or even the Gas Turbine car. Beautiful.
Our Aussie Chryslers are a little blunt but some are quite nice. Our early Galant, our Charger, our version of the Dodge Dart, (Valiant Pacer) all good-looking and to me better than the US counterpart.

We had the 1981 Mitsu version in silver, but I don't think I've seen one in 20 years.

My grandfather had a couple of sigma wagons - not much head room in the front from what I remember.

The only 4 pot Chrysler I had was a 1977 LA Lancer with a 2.6L Astron II with twin 45mm webers, big cam, 5 speed box and shortened Ford 9 inch rear!! That thing was fast and torquey with no turbo lag!!
The young kids today think they invented drifting - I was drifting the Lancer in 1987!!

Yep - there's a spot on the ceiling above my seat where my hair just touches the roof lining :-D
And I DON'T allow passengers in the back behind me - no way I'm putting my seat forward, not even one notch! There's less than 5cm of room between my seat and the rear bench

Your Lancer sounds like a beast! My sigma runs a 2.6 Astron II 5spd as well. No Webers though. One day. Sounds like my engine will be like yours was, only using a series one Astron. Bored, stroked, extractors, webers - all old performance techniques. I love it :-)

My Mom had an 85' Chrysler 5th Avenue with the 318cid engine. Complete with PPPPLLLLUUUUSSSHHHH velour interior :w00t: It was like driving your living room around! You actually sank into the velour seats or the enveloped you....ahh memories :-D

Rear wheel drive, V8...just like God intended. It was a sad day when she traded it in on a front drive POS :sadno: :sadno:   :'-(
