I remember this topic on stereo2go about old batteries, and thought about the old 'EVER READY' C-cell batteries I have, which came in one of my radios. They date from the '80s I think.

Has anyone else got old batteries they'd like to show?

I used to have some old batteries that had the black cat on them. I think they were Ever Ready brand. I don't think I've seen ERs with the black cat in years.

Haven't seen anything like that in a long time, I tend to agree with bill that those look more like 70's batteries in the US.

I remember torches that we had knocking round the house years ago had one really big and heavy ever ready battery in them, they were about 3-4'' square, with the same colour and logo as the batteries I posted above.

That sounds like the 6 volt lantern battery, haven't used one in many years. Not sure if they make them anymore, haven't noticed any in the stores for a long time. :hmmm:

:agree: They were the cheapest batteries and compared to Alkalines they sucked but that's about all I could afford, buying Alkalines was reserved for special occasions.
