Got this "box" in the mail Friday, if you want to call it that..? It's really just one big piece of cardboard bent around and folded over the corners.. Tape job was loose, I could hear the box moving around inside the package when I picked it up! :-O

NO bubble wrap was used,NO peanuts, NO newspaper... Instead, the unit was wrapped in some kind of sheeting.. (see pic)
For all I know it's somebody's curtain? Then it was wrapped several times with plastic wrap (Saran wrap)..

The only "cushion" this package had was a few small pieces of cardboard that had been folded in half and taped to the ends of the unit to protect the corners.. Like I said, when I picked up the package I could feel it sloshing around inside! :-/

Got it all unwrapped and to my surprise it was unscathed! :-O From what I've read about how thin the plastic is on these units, NOTHING was broken!! :w00t: Which is good because the box is in very cherry condition...:pimp:

i love that box  i know its not the highest quality it just looks bad ass :-D usually these are gold colored

i got a few boxes with only a few good wraps of thick cardboard around them and they survived no problem :dunce: .

these tisonic's and trident type boxes are light but actually pretty tough and the back case with removable front face panel are easy as hell to work on .

Yeah, it's not gonna win any TOTL awards, but this box ain't no punk!
While waiting for it to be delivered I read Fatdog's opinion of this unit, and honestly I was a bit saddened...
I thought I was gonna have to resell it as soon as I got it, thinking it was gonna have the performance of a Walkman..
I guess with my expectations so low, I was pleasantly surprised!! THis Funker BLASTS!!
6.5" speakers I think, but the bass isn't muddy and I think it really has good clarity... This unit looks to be used very little and everything works! Even the bottom of the feet are barely scratched..

This box isn't really an indoor box, because it's either silent or loud..no in between
Anything past 0.5 on volume scale is loud, and you really don't want to turn it up to 5 (unless you want to be heard a mile away)
It really is a lightweight Ghettoblaster! :breakdance: It sounds super good outside!

You got lucky, that box has a weak mount for the power supply like most of the cheaper plastic boxes and they often break loose with poor packing. That box is a looker with all the color and chrome.

I received a similar Blaunkton and the power supply broke loose and completely destroyed the box inside, my box even had one whole layer of the mini bubble wrap on it. The sad part of mine was I bought it from a once upstanding member on S2G and he didn't do anything when I told him what happened. I ended up throwing the box away and eating the $200 I paid for it.

Nice one, JustCruisin. Was that the one that just went on eBay? I had my eyes on it too. Glad it went to a member.

*Topic title should say inexperienced, dunno what I was thinking.. :dunce:
What this box lacks in "richness" of a higher end unit, it makes up in LOUDNESS!! :w00t:
If I ever make it to a midwest meet, I'm stopping 6 blocks from the meet.. settin this puppy on the roof of my car and creepin through BLASTIN til they can hear me!! :breakdance:
Even though this unit hasn't seen the public yet, I'm callin it a crowd pleaser.. yup, I said it! :afro:

Congratulations, JustCruisin!! LOVE this radio, hope I can get one one day.

I always call this the De La Soul Blaster after first seeing it in their Me Myself and I video.

Congratulations, JC! Ira would call that box "dead on balls". :-D I'm glad it arrived safely.

Keep an eye on the plastic dial window. They have a tendency to just fall off.

Ya know, I wasn't aware it was in that video! :w00t:

^ yeah, same question?!

It looks like the blaster from ebay. The sellers pics were too crummy for me to take a chance for that much $$. I'm glad to see a member go it too :breakdance:  .

Take some pics by other boxes for size comparison please!!!! :w00t: :hmmm:

Yup, got it from Epay.. :ebay: There was another Blaunkton on there a few weeks ago, a "non-working" parts unit TC-767.. looked similar, but had black mesh speaker grilles instead of the phat chrome ones...

Looks like sun is finally out, maybe I can get some action pics today!!
