These are quite rare and one of the boomboxes on my short list of wanted items.in all honesty I completely prefer it over the 838 this is a large cool looking boombox and I think the controls are not nicer.

I'm with JVC Floyd on this. Although I don't really fancy plastic grills, I prefer the Nordemende of the 838. The blue tinge on the VU's gives this box some uniqueness

Yep, these are an unsung gem. More features than the 838, better looking meters, plus they can be graffiti-painted.

The problem with 838 is that they can look tatty if they’re all dinked up. Pretty unforgiving unless they’re kind of in tip top condition. Still great boxes though with lots of charisma.

Don't underestimate these waffle boxes because the RC 656 will smoke the RC 838 off the face of the Earth sound wise. That's the biggest reason I like the Normandy because it's like a big gigantic version of the RC 656. Or at least bigger lol.these are not small boxes anyway the 838 to is a brick like boombox.

I will say this the Normandy and the 838 have the absolute perfect Boombox proportions they look like a box but not really box like.

The 838 pictured has a great story. I bought it in 2014 from a lady in quite a nice town called Rickmansworth. She ran an auction house for classic cars and owned E-Type Jags, Aston Martins and a Lamborghini Muira!
She told me that she bought the box in New York in December 1980 (it’s a JW rather than a European ‘L’ or ‘LB’) The reason she remembered the period is that she was in NYC when John Lennon was shot outside the Dakota building.
