Hi everyone!
I have come across this problem a long time ago with my first GF777.
I always wondered what it could have been :hmmm:
Following setting:
Balance all the way to the right, Super Woofer on 0.
The outer speaker gives no sound at all but only the tweeter sounds.
on the left side while the woofer is on 0, the speaker still sounds nice and clear.

What could this be? :hmmm:
On headphones, i always heard both sides clear and nicely - as far as I know, the super woofers cannot be heard through the heasdphone jack but only the outer speakers and tweeters signal.
That makes me believe the amp was okay... :hmmm:
Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

blown speaker.

I doubt it because it clearly works when I add the super woofer. Could the movement I see be passive? :hmmm:
Well, it actually sounded just like the super woofer sound came loud and clear out of it but the mids were missing.... :hmmm:
Sometime, very rarely, it just worked again for a limited time....
I was too unexperienced back then to know for sure.... :-/

You could try unplugging all the speakers except for the outers. That would definitely show if they are working or not.

Max,

The outer woofer and tweeter are connected together in parallel. The only difference is that the tweeter is in series with a high pass capacitor filter. Ergo, if the tweeter is working, the woofer should be getting power and WORKING.

It's not uncommon for a dead woofer to act like a passive radiator, although it would not nearly be as effective as a true passive when the case is vented.

It's easy enough to check. Just use a small 1.5 volt pen light battery and apply some juice to the woofer by dragging a wire on the speaker terminals. It should crackle loudly.

BTW, the super woofer controls have no effect on the outer speakers. They only control the superwoofers.
