Nice little $20 boomer today

I found this originally on Friday but couldn't pick it up at the time so the shop owner held it for me until today. It's my 2nd CFS-500, but it was in great shape so I couldn't say no, and for $20? Yeah, I got it :cool: These are terrific boxes to walk around with as they are not overly heavy, but pound nice and loud. I'll be honest, last summer, my CFS-500 saw more action than any other box hands down simply because I could carry it to/from work easily.

Today's CFS-500 is on the right. The left one I have had for about 5 years or so and got for only $5 at the time.

It was a steal for $20. :yes: :yes:

They are very nice boomboxes and easy to work on also.

I can see one slider missing, same is the case with mine too.

:agree: :agree: :agree: I too have two of these and one is missing one Blue EQ slider as well (honest). :yes: I had one back in High school before my Lasonic 931. It's simple but gets the job done too. Thinking of selling one (needs a batt. cover ,antenna and 1 slider) ;-)

I just looked closer and both of mine are missing that 3rd slider on the right! What's going on with these sliders!?
Also, it seems that those who have this box, have it in pairs haha! You guys, what a group.

Man, I'm sooo jealous. There's no way to catch one of these over here. Such a nice boombox. I love the EQs.

I was just cleaning some spots off the back with a toothbrush and hot water. I think they were drink drops or something as they just came right off no troubles. I also wanted to get a sticker off the side as I remembered there being one but didn't look closely at it. Well, it came off easily as it was the decal for the cassette door! How cool is that; no sticky residue, and the sticker actually is useful to me :-D

I also have one & got it for 25.00 on eBay a couple of years ago!
Join the crowd,I'm missing my middle eq slider knob! :-O
I agree,good overall everyday outside boomer.
Great find for 20.00!! :-)

Hey Drmz, I'll sell you one if you want one It will be the one missing 1 antenna,1 EQ slider & battery cover. I wish it was or complete for you. PM me if interested ;-) Eric, sell me that blue & white vinyl sticker :-D Can anyone make a copies of it for other Sony boxes?

Honestly, I just check my local value villages and thrift stores, and any little radio repair shops around. Usually I find nothing, but once in awhile :). The key is to keep checking now and then.

I guess its down to sheer luck/ timing when it comes to finding a true specimen!

P.S If you see another person eyeing the used electronics in the V. V. isles and seems fixated on boomboxes...chances are its me.. :blush: :-D
