Today's package delivery from our mail carrier (who's getting sick and tired of carrying boxes to my front door!) was this oddity: a Telerasse TR-311 TV mini. It arrived "new in the box," but without the box. Which means that the instructions, wrapping on the handle, and styrofoam supports were all still there. Even the removable protector sheets that cover the plastic faceplates, so they don't get scratched. Just no original box.

I call this my "Vienna Sound find of the week," not because I got it at a flea market (no flea markets around here!) , but because it's an unusual one (to me, anyway), and it seems to have a German brand name (even tho it was made in Taiwan for the USA).

Wonder if it has any aka's. :hmmm: Jens, if you're reading this, waddaya know???

Cool TV box, Boo Shamka Lama!! It reminds me of my Emerson TV box and my Realistic TV box. Too bad these old TV boomboxes don't have video inputs. :-/

Very clean unit, and also very sad they stopped broadcasting in this format :'-(

Nice score!

At least Detroit is just acoss the river from Windsor, Ontario. Canadian TV is still analog, so we can pick up one VHF and a few UHF stations here. Channel 9 in Windsor is a pretty powerful CBC station. The others are farther away and not as strong (and one is in French), but they're there. A reason not to chuck my TV boomers... yet..

Hey boom shaka laka!
Congrats on this!

yoo! "Vienna Sound find of the week!!!" :-D
This is indeed a rare one - in all the years aka`s only appeared 5 times. :-O

I`ve never seen this unit with this trademark.

It appeared as:
audiosonic-unkn19 IBBN 7-14046
frontech-trc311 IBBN 7-01199
princess-psw33 IBBN 7-11344

The TELERASSE isn`t German ,it might sound so for English languge speakers. :-)
TELERASSE sounds french for German /French ears.
(appeared with transistors on the Canadian market)
So I guess it`s a Canadian trademark.

There`s another TELERASSE tv box in the base (desktop)
which was sold in Germany from the HGS trademark.

I remember that just about any TV box was insanely expensive in the mid-80s. Someone really needs to come out with a very low power video transmitting device that could use the old 2-13 channels. Then you could watch the video of your choice on it.

Jovie... Great idea! Something needs to be done with all those abandoned frequencies (and all those analog TV's with nothing to receive)!

Jens... Thanks, as always, for so much interesting and detailed information. I'm always happy when I find a unit that's not already in the BBDB.

OK, I'll accept that Telerasse is probably a French brand name. But what should I think about...

HAHAHAHAHA!!! :w00t: :-D  :w00t:

that`s interesting....
but Germans would never use this word again for such a things like electronic trademarks.
The word (Rasse) itself has got a negative nimbus and a doubtfully reputation till nowadays.
Exeption in non humanities,animals, asf.

Actually I`m quite glad having french origin ancestors...

First part.:τηλε (tēle)greek , that means: far away, distant..

English term "race" correlates to the German term "Rasse"

terrasse from oldfrench.: terrace = earthwork, platform; origin from oldfrench./french. terre = earth (ger.:Erde)--(this from lat.: terra)

So the entire trademark could express ...

"Far out earth"
