New to this forum but not new to boomboxes. We called them box's back in the day.

I'm looking forward to this forum, exploring, getting tips and enjoying this culture. Yes it's a culture. I grew up in the 80's when it was cool and now it's even cooler now that I'm much much older.

Just picked up the following:
JVC RC-838JW
Panasonic RQ-4350

Both in decent / working condition.

You're not alone growing up in the 80's. I think we all have some grey hairs that could tell a few stories from that decade!

Boomboxes were (and still are) the coolest things ever. Nice collection so far. Never had an 838 but they seem to beloved machine here.

My hair is very very silver. I keep it short and it makes me look even older. Go figure.

I'm quite impressed with the 838. I got luck with this find because it was stored for over 15 years. I would rate it as a VG+ in the quality. Only a few minor issues but all in all after the clean up it looks and sounds excellent. The quality of the JVC vs other boxes and especially this first release is incredible. It's heavy and heavy duty.
