Hi all! Just joined the forum! I had a Aiwa CA-70 back in the early to mid 80's. Bought it with my hard earned cash(mowing grass probably). My Grandfather liked mine so much he bought one too! Mine is long gone, used the heck out of it! But my grandfather(now 92 years old) still has his. It quit working 10+ years ago. Been sitting on a shelf in his basement since. I am guessing all it ever needed was belts, but I noticed over the holidays the left woofer surround was gone. Right one still looks good. Didn't get to check out the passive radiator. I am hoping to gather some info and gain some connections to get it up and working again. It is in near mint condition physically. He takes extremely good care of hes stuff!

That is good to hear. I loved the one I had.

Been getting back into Old school audio. Home, then car, now portable. It is an addiction! LOL! Missed a CA-70 on ebay a few months ago. Good thing I didn't see it while it was active or I would probably own it!

I'll get some pics up when I get it from him. He lives about 3 hours away. We were talking over the holidays about getting it working again. I was just doing some research to see my options for speakers and belts for starters. Thanks!

Just noticed you haven't got a reply on your real issue...how to fix your broken box. Have you posted anything over in the Tech talk forum? You'll probably get more than the welcoming committee over here :-/

Hopefully new belts, a woofer re-foam and minor detailing will bring her back to life. Currently the playback mechanism is staying engaged. Praying that some belts solve that problem.

Thanks Skippy! I touched base with Floyd a couple weeks ago and he agreed to help. Do you have the Service Manual in a PDF or do you have it in paper format? Would love to have a copy. I was gonna buy one on ebay a few months ago and never did. Now its gone.
