The 2011 Innovative Technology catalog shows a new and larger boombox coming called the ITBB-XXL, the picture is obviously a drawing but it's in the catalog. I don't see any real specifications but the box is obviously larger with bigger woofers and it holds two ipods/iphones. See the bottom pic of the current ITBB-1980i model for size comparison.

If they made it look less "cheesy" then I would consider buying one.

:agree: The extra fins and decoration are a bit much, they should make it just a little cleaner looking like the ITBB-1980i in the bottom picture.

It's not really that bad looking. I still like the analog tuner better because it just seems more realistic from the era

I figured that would be a polarizing feature but I personally don't mind it even though an analog tuner is truer to the classic design.

No double antennas. :-/
That does s--k, also who needs a double ipod dock. They should have went with a tape deck and ipod dock then you could record off your ipod

:agree: No double antennas sucks and I'll bet it was very cheap to add the second i-turd device.

I applaud TDK for trying but I think they missed on a few points.
Styling is to plain/bland
No speaker covers at all
Runs on C batteries and not D batteries, lets see how 35 watts RMS of power drains the batteries. If they are using current amp technology like ICE amps then this may not be so bad.
Price expected to be $499.

We could mention a few other things like an analog tuner or the gloss black being to delicate but that my be getting a little to critical for a new high tech box like the TDK.

I'm still curious, interested and may be willing to try it but not at $499, at least not yet.

Had promise, but looks like it's drawing way too much in it's design from ugly modern home stereos. The ones that look like car engines.

It'f they'd stuck to classic 80s design it would've been a much more desirable product to my tastes.

Could be heavily customised though...

Rock On.

:agree:

I like the analog tuner on the 1980i better; wonder if the tweeters are fake on the XXL too‽

Go!

If it was reasonably priced, didn't force me to use iPod's and LOOKED THAT GOOD (with twin antenna's)

and was at least the size of my 920.....

I WOULD BUY!

Hell Yeah! I would Buy

At some point you have to wonder is anybody going to get it right and produce something both appealing and useful even if they do it just by accident.

I can't see the point in a double ipod dock
And to me it looks like this boomer doesn't know which era it belongs to. Layout and shape are classic but all that pretentious fancy stuff doesn't look classic at all. Looks like it'll be cheaply made and deliver mediocre sound. But that's just a first impression based off this sketch, who knows what this will bring.
By the way, I think TDK got it right. Appropriate modern design, built quality, power. You can't get that for 99 bucks. You couldn't get an M90 for that kind of money either back in the days (nor can you today of course). I don't want to compare the TDK with the M90, but I guess you get the point.

I sure hope so. The new TDK is cool, at least it's the right size, but I could made a black square and put 3 speakers in it! :-/

"F" all egg shapes!

And god help us if we end up with another radio with a sticker for a tuner! :dunce:

Tubes are good for bass, not looks.

Someone needs to hire ME to design their new Blaster. :w00t:

:agree: Chris and unfortunately I think TDK has come up short on an otherwise good effort. I for one want my drivers protected, one small accident and you've just ruined one or more speakers that I'm sure would cost a lot to replace. The handle is not ideal for carrying and it's not retractable plus the design is very modern, maybe to modern making it a bit bland. They look great and the specs are very good but the styling is more put it on a shelf and marvel at it rather than carry it around and blast your favorite tunes.
