Not just Goldstar. A couple of years ago there was an M70 for sale on EBay in Europe somewhere and it had a picture of the back panel that clearly said it was made in Nigeria. The reason why I remembered this particular auction is because of that label and that it came with the red JVC carry hold-all bag thing.Reli said:Assembled in Nigeria? They're supposed to be made in Korea.
So Goldstar sent parts to Nigeria for final assembly?
I don't think Nigeria was known for that kind of work in 1983, but I may be wrong.
I did find a Daddybond there, but it says they were just a wholesaler, not a factory

Just sent the ex-employee a message, so we'll try and get the definitive.
One difference I've spotted is the LCD clock. This one, apart from not working (I'm working on that) looks black. I think it's a kind of LED version - maybe to withstand the heat and sun better??

Fantastic score by the way. Always good to see something different.

My clock is green, but it doesn't work. Maybe yours is black because the liquid leaked. Regardless, I've never seen a Goldstar with a working clock.
