So for $hits and giggles, I put in retro boombox in the Amazon search bar and it turned up a bunch of new boomboxes that are supposedly 1980's restyles. That said, they all look cheap despite some good reviews. The newest radio I have is the GPO Brooklyn box. I actually like it except for the chrome speaker surrounds. They look too round and polished. Perhaps if they moulded in some Allen set screw at four corners to give it some pizzazz but thats just me. Anyone bought a new version of these restyled radios and have anything to say about them?

I watched some reviews on Youtube:
Most of them use cheap cassette mechanism.
Audio quality is poor, and they looks so cheap...

I have had at least five modern boom boxes. The only one with retro styling was the Lasonic i-931.
I was not impressed with the overall quality whatsoever and I sold it locally quite a few years ago.
Still for me I guess it was more about sound quality and or features.
the ones I still have are
1. TDK three speaker
2. Altec IMT 800
3. Pioneer STZ-D10Z-R
The one retro looking one I still do have (It was given to my son) is the Lasonic 931 bt in White.
The sound and build quality is utter crap. I keep bugging him to come get it but he has no interest in it. I will probably eventually give it away.

I have had at least five modern boom boxes, but never had I gone with one that was trying to look like a vintage box with retro styling of sorts. For me I guess it was more about sound quality and or features.

I have the Pioneer too. Better sound than the Kaboom in my opinion, except for obviously less bass.
Only problem is, no Bluetooth, and the iPod dock only works with some generations.

Could always use a bluetooth receiver! I have a couple of old school ipods that i use with it. Hah I never thought i would use the term “old school” while talking about ipods

I have a REALLY old iPod still hanging around....3rd gen, 40GB. It says "not compatible".
I should just hawk it on ePay....someone will surely pay good money for a "vintage" 15 year old iPod
