Need suggestions on a decent boombox:
Budget of $100-$150
Must have remote, play mp3s via USB flash drive. Don't care for iPod support.
Have decent sound quality (mainly for classical music, in a ~300sq ft room)

Thanks!

I would suggest a Lasonic i931

:agree: Lasonic I931BTQ or if you can get an Altec Lansing around $150 no Bluetooth though but awesome sound and only 8 D cell batteries that last forever

I agree with Bill. I would look for an Altec Lansing imt800. Skip the imt810.

Thanks for the responses :-). The Lasonic seems to have a nice set of features (bluetooth is great), but reviews on sound quality seem to be mixed. Will it sound good for listening to classical music in a fairly quiet setting?

Any experiences with the Panasonic RX-D55GC-K Boombox ?

Dream specs: Good sound, remote, usb flash, bluetooth, portable with rechargeable batteries :-D

Lasonic is a great deal and sound is not that bad despite what others have said. Plus I've seen them selling for $120 shipped now as well :-)

:agree: these don't sound bad and at full volume will make you leave the room loudness wise ,now if you are an audiophile forget it  i know people who listen to classical music often and they pay big money for sound quality but classical sounds good on just about anything :dunce: go figure .

JVC M70 is the answer... What's the question, again?

Oh... You might be able to find a kaboom if you really hunt for one.

Go with the altec.
Big sound little package. Remote capable and will fill a 300 sq ft rm like a home stereo would.
Sound quality is superb
Lasonic has the classic retro look and it gets quite loud but sound quality is not as good.

Oh. I missed that part. HEHE! Sorry!

Um.... but wait. Have you listened to classical with one? I know they're all about bass...

what about a M70?

Just go sell some plasma a few times and then you'll have enough.

:-D

Maybe you could sell one of your kids' kidneys or something... Always keep a spare for yourself, though Just in Case...

Another $50, and you can get the TDK A73 from Amazon.com. Just another option.

Is the Lasonic the only one with both usb and bluetooth? Everything else I've seen has only one or the other. Are there any other systems with both capabilities?
