Need help for speaker SHARP CP-3000

Hello

I need your help to complete a restoration of a SHARP VZ-3000.
On a speaker SHARP CP-3000, only the tweeter works, the woofer does not give sound. Same situation whether it's on the right or left exits. I control the voltage at the terminals, everything is ok.
On the service scheme, a coil is on the circuit. L1 0.6Mh. How do you control it?
Or another solution to advise me?

Have you checked the headphone jack to make sure all frequencies (bass to treble) are available?

I did these checks. The second speaker works properly.
Is it possible to do another montage?

If the second speaker is working properly, switch the two speakers (actually unplug and change sides) and check if the problem follows the bad speaker.

If the good speaker is connected to the bad side and is bad, it is definitely something electronic.

If the good speaker is connected to the bad side and is good, and the bad speaker connected to the good side is bad, I would say the speaker itself is bad.

Check and make sure L1 is not blown, resistance should be very low. You can not "control" it, it is a passive component and just works unless there is a problem with it. DC resistance should be extremely low, maybe close to zero. You can also test it's inductance (mH) since it's an.... "inductor" but even if the inductance was off, the speaker will still emit sound unless that inductor is blown. IF it is blown and you can't find a suitable replacement, you can always just put a jumper there, and your speaker will come back to life. The only thing is that in addition to reproducing low hzs, it will also reproduce the highs making it become a full range driver instead of a woofer.

Also it's possible that both woofers are blown. Check them with ohmmeter and see if DC resistance is similar to impedance marked on speaker magnet. DC resistance is usually lower than actual Speaker impedance specs. For example, an 8 Ω impedance speaker will probably test at about 6.3 Ω +/- at DC.

It's a good crossover, better than what is usually found in most boomboxes, do not modify it if possible. Sadly, I fear that your speaker coil will blow before the inductor coil will, but you should test them all with DMM (digital multi-meter) just to be sure.

Merci / Thank you Superduper for your advice.
After checking with a multimetre, the woofer and tweeter give the right resistance values.
The problem comes from the L1 coil.
I can't find the entire spare part on the net without buying a new pair of second-hand speakers.


Or if a forum member can sell me a crossover



What do you think of the crossover find on EBay to replace that of sharp.

Don’t change the entire crossover, just change L1. Search on eBay for “0.6mh inductor” & there’s lots of choices. You don’t need 20a one but 2a coil probably good enough. It might not look exactly like the old one but as long as inductance is the same (.06mh), should work the same. Like I said before, if you can’t find, you can simply put a jumper & it will work too. Listen to it with the jumper & see if you are satisfied with the sound. Just make sure you do not mistake the 2 inductors. If you jumper L2, you will cause issues, maybe even blow the amplifier.

Page 20 of the VZ-3000 service manual on the Boomboxery library calls the speakers CP-V300, perhaps that's what he meant?
