Hi Guys,

I know I have said before that the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked, but this one is pretty dumb :)

Does anyone know where I could get a good shoulder carrying strap so I can carry my JVC around comfortably? I want to take mine down to Heritage Fest this weekend so I can blast tunage and get ripped on Old English 800 Malt Liquor. I noticed that carrying a rather large boombox for extended periods of time gets to become a pain in the you know what, and I don't want some chickenwing fainghoul pikey ripping it off (like they'd want it)...Thanks for your help!

I needed one for walking to work with. I looked around and couldn't find anything long or strong enough so I made this up:

It's two shoulder straps off a larger size backpack sewn together. I've also added a 'non slip' pad underneath the top too, so heavier boxes don't slide off your shoulder as you walk. The clip system that wraps around the corners of the handle means the radio won't slide around too, as well as distributing the stress over the handle and the upright.

This has served me well for about 6 months, the heaviest one I carried is the M70 and it was still quite comfortable.
I was thinking of customising a good looking guitar strap into one, but I might just look for a more appealing back pack to make up my next one.

Hope this helps!

just dont get so ripped on old english that you fall over or decide the box is too heavy to lug around any more. :-D

personally i would jet off to the local music store man and snag a cool guitar strap you can mod up to use for your boombox.
should be easy enough plus they are pretty cheap still and strong. you might have to get creative with how to attach it,but shouldnt be to much of a struggle.

Awesome! I am going to hunt for some more straps. I murdered a Fort Bryan guitar strap when I had this idea that I was supposed to feed the strap through these slots on the side, but it turns out that those are just for some kind of decoration. Thanks for the pointers

I LOVE BOOM-BOX!! OSS :afro:
I love this shot.

You should be able to dig up plenty of duffle bag straps, it would be fairly simple to make up something for them to connect to that you attach to the handle.
