Hi gang

So today I got my most recent acquisition, the NEC RM2800. I fell in love with the look of this box after seeing member Hisrudness's a while back. I never thought one would crop up for sale, but to my surprise one did in ex con so I bid and luckily I won her  The box is in ex condition with only a few very minor marks. It sounds very good and looks amazing. It has all the whistles and bells of a quality box and is fully functional, even the tape player sounds amazing. The only small downfall is some rust on one of the battery springs, it's only surface rust but I won't settle until it's cleaned off. I forgot to mention that one of the stickers on the back says Nippon electrical corp.

Unfortunately I can't post pics as my old faithful phone has gone and the one I am using is crap at pics. I can however post a link to the ended auction. Overall I am very happy with this box and it rates very highly as one of the best I have ever owned. Here is a link to the auction.....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEC-RM-2800-GHETTO-BLASTER-BOOMBOX-STEREO-RADIO-CASSETTE-RECORDER-/281666041204?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trks

Well done Lav. Thought you might've gone for that one.
Yes high featured indeed. If anyone else can tell me of another 1 piece box with all of the following:

Analogue VU's
Digital tuner / pre sets
Graphic equalizer
Music search
Twin aerials.
aka's of this model don't count!

Oh that is nice. I bet it's a Sony or Sharp. I don't think NEC manufactured their own boomboxes. Make sure to take good pics for the wiki

Tweeters mounted in the woofer grills, so to speak. Built by the same folks that made Bolt Boxes & C-100f's.

Very Sony (and Sharp) looking, this one is. Kind of as if Sony made a 575. :hmmm: Great score. Congratulations!

Thanks for all the positives here guys, and thanks for adding pics too. I am really loving this box, it's everything I look for in a quality radio. I think I got it at a good price too, and I would of paid more should the auction of gone higher

Speakers do remind me of Sony CFS-77.
There are some traces of Sharp GF-575, 858 as well. :)
Shall we just call it a SHONY then
