if there is such a thing as the rx 7100 it's probably closer looking to the rx 7200 than the rx 5350 .

They are the same and they are both RX-5350's. I had 'em both and can confirm that they have the same model #. The one with the larger mic bezels, Monchito has it now, and I'm sure he will confirm that it's a RX-5350. The difference is that the one in the first link by the OP has dolby. The extra small knob is for mixing, which the other one did not have. Also, the TPS (music search) for the first one can program 3 songs while the other one only has a single search. It also has a dark tuner dial and graphite grills as opposed to a silver tuning dial and black grills of the other one. Also the meter area is grey as opposed to black and as already been mentioned, the mic bezels are different. Internally, they are virtually identical and parts can probably be interchanged without much hassle.

As for the so called 7100, far as I know, it's an RX-5350 as that is EXACTLY like mine was.

Both stacked up on top of each other. Both had RX-5350 on back label.

By my base, in which all nat/pan models are separated in three main branch like three different brands: "National Panasonic", "National" and "Panasonic", there is no exist the Panasonic RX-7100 and National RX-7100, only National Panasonic brand got the RX-7100 version.
Since that "National Panasonic" is European / Australian / Middle Eastern brand of the matshu **** a company till in the middle of the 80's, perhaps because of some legal limitations (in a some country) had to change the number of that model so that he can sell them.
I noticed that European models of "National Panasonic" and other boomboxes have a 4 band radio scale with FM/LW/MW/SW bands, the Australian bands is FM/SW1/SW2/SW3 or MW and the Middle Eastern models have not FM band until 83'/84' and the bands is SW1/SW2/SW3/MW (while the Panasonic boomboxes for U.S. market more often have only two bands FM / MW).
Also, all the differences which Norm is mentioned is most common in all brands, and these differences are due to the time span (several years) in production, all in relation to improving the quality and adding more convenient options/functions. :-)
