I’m still vacationing in Barbados and I went looking for the abandoned Harp gun today.

The gun is situated near the end of the Grantley Adams airport runway. There are a lot of abandoned buildings and huts as well as the military base up there and I had problems finding it.
Whilst searching I was fascinated by a building that was abandoned but without a door. Inside there was a load of vintage electrical equipment. Tv’s, vcr,s , CB radios and the like all rusting away on the floor.
As I walked in a cat jumped out and ran past me and I almost crapped myself. I spotted something in the corner and went closer to look.......

That's why I stop at every trash pile, junk heap,dumpster, because you never know,that's just pure ****ing awesome luck.

Still in better shape than my first 777 that mutha fuker was a train wreck.
Nothing better than a freebie ,**** it beats paying all kinds of money .

To be honest the box is toast! It’s half complete and not salvageable. However i pulled it out and bought it back to the villa. It’s great to photograph and I’ll take some souvenir knobs and perhaps a grille to take back. It’s in bad shape and the coastal air has corroded the inside.
Here are some more pictures of the box and the Harp gun which is also nuts! This thing used to fire satellites into space! When it used to go off the wooden chattel houses nearby used to shake off the foundations.

Hell I would take off.
The weighted tuner flywheel assembly.
Deck doors.
Power switch.
Grills.
Sharp badge.
Tweeter mounting plates.
I know you probably already thought of it as these parts are hard to come by.

Those grills seem like they’re welded on!
I’m runnimg out of time and flying back to the UK tomorrow. It can’t come home with me I’m afraid. That’s why I took lots of pictures. I rarely find anything in the wild and I’m pretty stoked just to have the pictures and experience.

What an awesome story and amazing find, who would of thought holidaying in paradise you would find that. I would love to have seen the gun and associated abandon buildings. Stuff like that fascinates me.

I think you were 30 years too late to save that one. I bet there are some guys out there with 'shipping disaster' GF-777s who'd love an intact case like that to respray.

It's a pity you need to leave it behind.
