Hey Modders & Boombox Fanatics... :-D

Always working on improving my grails the way I want them to be, I decided to update the blaster with new tweeters, crash bar feet & replace the push-button switches with rocker switches...

Here, take a look...

First, new rocker switches for the LED controllers so that I can turn on & off the response of each section to the remote control...

Next I had to shave & JB Weld the feet of the blaster on the back cabinet piece so they would fit underneath the bumper feet I planned to attach....

Here's a shot of them all finished & painted with the new bumper feet installed..

Here the bars are installed & the rest of the blaster is ready to be re-assembled...

Here, the blaster is resting face forward on it's bumper feet & side handles....No part of the front face is touching the glass table...

Finally, everything is installed & ready for a BASS test!!  :-D

crazy! (in a positive way) - as you said..you made it the way you want it to be.

nice light show - would also go smooth to some New Retro Wave electrosynth! lot's of effort in this one i guess!

the crash bar feet are not my kind of thing tough.

keep up the good work!

I recognize those bars, are they from a M9998?

Also, did you use regular JB Weld (the old gray stuff that's normally used on metal?), or a different version?

Yup. Good eye Reli & no I used JB Quik. sets in 6 minutes & cures in 4-6 hours but it does have steel powder reinforcement, like the old grey stuff...

Another victory lap with the new tweeters, switches & bumper feet.

!!! WARNING !!! HEAVY BASS TRACK...Turn your speakers down if they can't deal with low bass...

I'll admit that box is the king of bling lol.
I want to hate it but its too bad ass to ignore.
Its got its own style and almost anybody here could easily tell who built it.
These are a great box to build on. I customized a few of these and with the right speakers can kick some serious ass. Honestly they sound flat as a pancake from the factory.

:-) Thanx SLO! I wanted a Super LOUD Conion Killer with a DISCO LED system & bumper bars all over the place & a sweet strap from Blu-Fuzz! Check, check, check & check!! Those are the things that made boomboxes awesome & having it all in one including the ginormous Power BASS Meters, had to be done.

It's also fun to brag that my GF-777Z was the first to have Bass Power Meters, CONION style along the bottom front to display the power output to the Super-Woofer channels...

Fark Yeah, these MOD awesomely.

I saw some of your Triple-7 joints in production. They rock man! I remember the mirror tuner window on one that was so slick! I think you made a monster Lasonic too, right? That's the beauty of this model's design....Everything is so accessible & easy to work on. Just slam some good efficiency 2 to 3.2 OHM woofers & you're slamming out about 40 watts or more across 4 channels. It's right there to be had. On top of that, the beauty of 4 woofers over 2 is the added acoustic coupling which adds about 3db the the sound pressure output vs 2 woofers with the same watts in. That acoustic output from 4 woofers coupling(+3db) is equal to doubling the ampliflier wattage fed to 2 woofers. Basically 40w into 2 speakers = 20w into 4.....same acoustic output(SPL)

Any good working Triple-7 & the like, could absolutely OWN a C-100 with some good, balanced, efficent woofers. 2 Outer 'Mid-bass' type & 2 inner 'Deep-Bass' type woofers with a 2 to 3.2 OHM range. The SHARP also has a more polished & solid build, better decks, a Yamaha Natural Sound look in silver, a kick aZZ dial & VU's for backlighting, & on & on & on....big fan of this model...

This mod is a bit complicated compared to a lot of LED mods out there but I still had the chassis out of this one, this past week, complete & unmolested, including the headphone jacks, harnesses, etc. in about 20 minutes, not even..I had to repair a busted post & re-thread some others that were stripped which I did, using JB-Weld. Now, when you listen to this beast, it pounds cleanly like a tight drum. Every screw is tight & holding strong. I really worked & planned out the wiring harnesses for everything, complete with plugs in certain places to facilitate removal & service without a lot of extra steps. The controllers, wiring, Power LED modules, connections, wiring, etc. all reside along the bottom side of the cabinet & around each woofer, etc. I use a lot of 3-pin & 4-pin fan connectors for the LED strips, remote sensors & sensitivity controls. 2-pin connectors are used to connect power to the various modded LED controllers. Also, when you use fan connectors, you can get pre-wired extenders, for about 30c ea. in bulk, You can link the 12" cables, male to female, endlessly to create your wiring harnesses which promotes easy repair & modification, on the fly. LED strips are wired to a Male 4-pin connector & the controllers are wired to a Female 4-pin connector & can be both fabricated from a single 12" extension cable. This makes fabricating connections & harnesses dead simple, easy to take apart, repair, change etc. Like electrical LEGO.

Sorry for the long reply... :angelic:   :-)
