free kaboom
yes it is true i have got two free kabooms over the last couple years. this with the one i bought makes three.
this one has slight rubber coating problem most of these have from this era.
it even has the remote and strap in the plastic bags still. pretty cool score. not what i had expected or thought i would be picking up.
i have three kabooms now. hmmm i dont need three. anyone got something they want to trade. :-D
so yeah hmmm maybe i do need three. ummm no i dont hahahah but perhaps i can figure out what to do with it.
apparently this was bought for a trade show used once then put aways in the storage room upstairs at my wifes work.
someone was cleaning out the room and pulled it out. they were going to chuck it out but someone said hey one of the workers here has a better half that collects them.
so yeah i am pretty smitten to have it. for free even tho this makes three if you have something cool to trade give it a shot but not over seas to far for cheap old me.

Congrats bill :thumbsup: I can go one better i have 4 pc55 now :-P but this isn't a knob size contest so well done :-) i used to have 3 kabooms but i don't use them so i sold 2, on cd these are pretty astounding boxes but im a cassette man so the kaboom dosen't get much use.

its pretty crazy . i mean with the exception of that stupid elastoeric problem that these have its like this has been in a time capsule.
even the strap and remote appear to be unused.
what am i going to do with three kabooms. i guess i could make a wicked busking sound system and do live electronic music in the streets. show up with a suitcase of battery opped electronics and let it rip through the three kabooms. that would be pretty cool.
i still cant believe i got two of the kabooms for free. i mean i just dont get it.

that they now sell for $$$hundreds

so --you might want to put two up there --
and have enough for 20 other boxes !! :yes:

i am thinking of it . i mean i really only need one kaboom. this one is pretty fine and all that but.......
i wouldnt do the ebay thing i think tho. i am not overly comfortable with the entire procedure.
maybe i dont know i am listening to it now it sounds really nice as all three of them do. hehe. i still do not get why no one at her work plugged it in and said wow this thing is the bomb. dont get it.

i dont get it myself. i dont think they checked ebay at all to be honest. i mean its a big company they dont care. but why oh why didnt anyone there want it. i mean for someone living in a apt or what ever it would make a pretty good stere.

it took me quite a while to come to terms with looking at kabooms

i first thought they were all gross and ridiculous and childish and they
looked like pigs from both ends

i must confess i did alway like the black on black ones. i have seen this model for sale in the shops up here back in the day.
i have never seen a black on black kaboom since and man did they ever look fantastic.
yep it does have some odd styling cues. that being said i have no doubt the kaboom is the future grail i think it should be.
it has been such a huge hit that other companies saw fit to knick the design of it.
that is pretty cool.

strange stuff here.
so i decided to side by side the new kaboom i got today and the one i bought brand new a year or so ago.
the one i got today has markedly deeper bass. i mean not the other isnt bassy but the one i got today is a lot bassier.
my garbage bin kaboom the one i got from the garbage is not as loud as either of them but still is quite loud.
there is always something that puzzles me about things that should all be the same that are not.
i wonder if there is a difference in the parts for the early model.
all of them do sound very good but the latest addition sounds better than the others. wierd.

bill --i have bought and sold
and heard several kabooms of that style --

the years and the model #s were different --
but - to my ears --they all sounded identical--
and the specs would attest to that.

so some of yours may not be performing
up to spec ??

the other one i have is pretty much brand new i bought it new.
the difference is slight but it is there.
i am almost positive it has something to do with the line in.
i do know there must be a different line in circuit for the newer one from the older one beacause of the extra jack with the gain control pot on it for guitar.
i am kind of thinking this must add slight resistance to the circuit. i mean would more wires going into the line in add more resistance. i dont know but i guess yes.
now that i have spent more time with them listening on cd and tape between the two is identical as is with the old one i got from the trash dumpster.
the radio reception on the older ones is lesser slightly than the newer model.
just very very slightly different.
i am also noticing that that between the three being played all at the same time on the radio it can make a hell of a lot of boom. :-D :-D
