ok so why the hell would i buy two of these small ipod speakers.
the answer is simple so when i am out on my bike i can chuck it into the seat post carrier or tube bag plug a ipod into it and rock have some mobile tunes.
it fits in the palm of your hand and recharges through the usb port on a computer. it comes with a special cable that lets you pump out audio through your usb port as well. dont know how it does this as there is no audio interface there but somehow they get the audio from a mini jack into the port on the speaker.
the underside has another jack that is nicely tucked into the speaker and well the entire thing is just really well thought out and designed very nicely.
the speaker literally fits in the palm of your hand with room to spare in more cases. the switches and volume control seem nicely fitted and they dont have a lot of slack in there.
it comes with a nice little bag to keep the speaker in when you are not using it to protect it.
the speaker itself holds a surprise in not only the way it opens up with a twist to reveal a bass chamber, but also in how good it sounds for its puny dimensions.
of course this little pocket bambox yes bambox beacause it cant really go boom does sound very good for its size.
it sounds like it is putting out maybe two watts but it does sound very nice.
the way the lower bass rolls off is very good and the mids and highs on this tiny wonder are extremely good and musical sounding.
they are made to be hooked up in series so you use one or two or even up to fifty of them in series. i got two,but one is pretty nice sounding if you just need to listen to your ipod and dont want to use your big ipod dock or your headphones.
does it sound really tinny and tiny and horrid turned up loud, well i was pretty skeptical about all the glowing reviews of this petite speaker. i dont know why i ordered two off the bay at christmas time but i did from a seller called streetvalueltd in hong kong.
they came super fast shipping was pretty good and all said and done i was in for about sixty five bucks candian.
they play for about five to six hours with a full charge at loud volume and longer at lower volume.
is it loud enough to drive people out of the room not a chance.
it is however a lot louder than i would have thought. again lets face it a speaker this size cant boom but i can hear the eight oh eight kick on it. it can distort when pushed but the way it handles that distortion is not terrible and only as super loud volumes does it give into the overwhelming bass.

these can be operated with the speaker either opened or closed however it sounds much better with the speaker opened up.
there seems to be a lot of copy cat speakers out there but this one really sounds good. is it a boombox well not really but if you have two of these and a ipod its a pretty portable small sound system. you can find dozens of small speakers for ipods out there and almost all of them suck really really really bad.
these tho are very very good.
will it replace your favorite mini boombox i guess that depends on what that box is and how much space you have in your backpack.
i tell you this tho this is a very good quality speaker the midrange on it is very good and the highs are sweet sounding.
impossible from something like this. well i would have thought that as well until i heard it. in fact i had a sinking feeling in my stomach after i ordered them that i was gonna be really let down.

seriously tho gadget geeks will like this one i think. aparently there is now a model available with a built in mp3 player.
i think that may get the nod as the worlds smallest good sounding portable audio player. i cant call it a stereo because unless you have more than one hooked up its in mono.
a set of these also is fantastic as a set of laptop speakers.
overall i would say for bang for the buck this product is very good.
dont get me wrong i am way happier about getting a m9996 and a pc550 this week for about the same price but you know.

in fact i feel more postive about the purchase of these little wonders than the actual purchase of the ipod itself lol.
in fact allthough i am very critical about the ammount of bass that comes out of them its way more than you would expect from something like this.
