Started out nice but dirty and called for a complete and utter tear down, speakers were deteriorated and sun faded badly - new speakers installed matching factory resistance rating and efficiency of 90db.

Hope to fire her up tomorrow after work

Yeah I will just put the old speakers up for now, they are really faded and have a couple tears in them. Dust caps on ebay, I'll go look now - the Aluminum ones? Might be too big....and I replaced the tweeters/high pass speakers with matching units with black centers... :hmmm:

Thanks for the compliments, the box is coming along nicely.

johnny i believe thats the original color of the speakers.

They look really faded in person, but i know they're suppose to b blue, the outer edges have tears in them (nothing some adhesive on back couldn't make better though).. Looks like JVC used some really nice stuff and had a smart layout for these radios!

Johnny. Those speakers look good to me. If you don't want 'em, you can send 'em to me!

JVC's service manual clearly describes the speakers as new, polyurethane veneered versions. If you look closely, you'll see that the reverse side is blue paper. The front side is coated (veneered) with plastic. The coating is a greyish color and the light blue you are seeing is the original blue of the paper cone showing through. I've had 4 M90's in my collection and they are ALL that color. One of my M90 is as mint as they come, with virtually no use (not even a spec of dust behind the grill) and it's still that color. Besides, I don't think you'll find speakers faded so evenly from behind the grill.

Congratts johnny cunnon fire it up, what do ya think?. :-)

With the old speakers she sounded good, I hope the sound is slightly better with the new woofers and tweets. Will fire her up tonight after soldering speakers in and add q-pads to inner shell sides.

I have used what ford93 suggested as well, and I wish I would have taken a picture when I was done, the color is very close to the original.....Its called hvp112 medium blue. I did not put a clear coat on and they still look very very nice.
