Is there really a subwoofer behind there, or is it just a "bass reflex port"

You guys crack me up (as always) GREAT ideas for clean up!

All I can say is that Mr. Gordon had this thing on a shelf for YEARS (as if you couldn't notice that already) and he handed it to me as a birthday present.... I'm really grateful since boomboxes here are REALLY hard to come by period. There are no flea markets here, no goodwill, no nuttin'... the sound is really good, I will of course make pictures of the step-by-step (horror) disassembly... and clean up also! Not for the weak at stomach.

Reli, I'll find out as soon as I take this sucker apart...
Today I had to buy a torx screwdriver since it's (ironically) NOT held together by a Philips screw system...

Hahahaaaa, have the same problem!
No idea why just the movingsound series owns that crazy screws

Take a big clean and get it back to beauty.
Maybe with a bit colorwork on it ;-)
Just planning to do something with one of mine.

About the strap i think it is the same like on the "lecube" :hmmm:
And with the PHILIPS signs on it.
Will look for it..

really? :-O is it behind the tape decks?
I know, I was like, WHAA!? too!!! :-O In the first picture of the step-by-step, you see that Strānj lookin' box right under the tape decks? It's got 13 (torx) screws to hold it in place, and it has a small, but HEAVY MAGNET mini-sub!!!! More pics to come!!! I'm in rehearsal... hehehehehe....

Here are the rest of the disassembly pics...

dsc04391.jpg

Pulling out (it's a sort of drawer) the Sub-Woofer "enclosure"... pretty cool design actually...
dsc04392.jpg

Here it is, the same enclosure facing up, to reveal the mini-sub... HEAVY lil' sucka....! That trapezoid shape has rubber on the edge, and it's got those two rubber pegs to rest on also when it's in position...

That is awesome! I always used to fantasize that sound came out of the spaceship-like ports and vents that festooned nearly every boombox from 1985-on. For once, a box lives up to its claims!
