Hello, my name is Dylan Vidovich and I am from Logan, West Virginia. A few of you have probably seen me post here in the last week, but I did not notice this particular board until last night, so I figure I will formally introduce myself to the forum. I am a 17-year-old who does not buy into the whole modern thing; I don't own an iPhone or any type of smartphone or tablet and I mainly listen to rock music that ranges from about 1973 to 1991. I have a stereo system that consists of a Marantz 2265B receiver, a Technics SL-D303 turntable, a Technics RS-B28R cassette deck, and a Technics SL-P210 CD player. I began collecting boomboxes a year ago when I found two old boomboxes that belonged to my dad and grandfather respectively.

I am currently a senior in high school and I often get lots of laughs and weird looks when I bring a boombox to school as shown in the attached file. I have also carried boomboxes through town and it has sort of become my trademark in this area. ;-)

I'm glad to be a part of the site!

Welcome to the forum Dylan! You've just reduced the average age on here a little so well done for that ;-) Nice to hear the love of old audio gear isn't always missing in the youth of today :-)

Welcome aboard, Dylan! If you hang around here long enough, you will become as crazy as we are. :-D I hope you have a good major picked out if you are going to college. This hobby obsession can get mighty expensive.

What they said....especially Fatdog. Glad you found us. The WV might be an untapped resource for finding old boomers. Hit up some yard sales when the weather gets better and some thrift stores.....you might find a gold Conion! Dibs on that by the way.

Thank you all for the kind introductions! I see it must be kind of surprising to see somebody my age on here. I often call myself a "45+ year old man" trapped in a 17-year-old's body, haha.

And yes, this obsession is quite expensive, and that is why I do not own any of the larger boomboxes as of yet. But good things come to those who wait, I suppose. ;-)

You will eventually have a few big ones in your collection. Most/all of us started with entry level boxes, cleaned them up, and maybe flipped them for a couple extra $$ to start buying the bigger ones. It's a ladder of collecting and some huge scores are just dumb luck, so GOOD LUCK! lol

Welcome aboard Dylan. Glad to see You representing WV properly. Nice Panny 5050, btw. I have two of those.

The 5050 is an awesome mid-size boombox, FUZZ. It really blasts for its size. I definitely wouldn't mind having two of those myself.

Welcome to this beautiful site Dylan. :hi: :hi:

JVC M70 will be a good start. Overall it is the best boombox to have.
Later buy a Sharp GF777, you will be a happy camper! :dj-party:

If these don't cure the boombox disease then only go and get other boomboxes like JVC M90, Sanyo BigBen, Panasonic RX5350 and so on.

Note: There are so many "17 year old's " trapped in a 45+year-old's body :w00t:
