I picked this unit up off of Kijiji, it was listed as great condition. Not so great when I received it.

At first glance it looked ok, on closer inspection both tweeters didn't work, as well as 1 woofer.

In preparation I reached out to a few members on here. They sent me detailed pictures of the inside etc. Extremely helpful.

So began the teardown....

All the chrome was filthy, strange sticky substance all over the unit. I think it was kept in a kitchen. All the pots were scratchy or popping. All the glass has turned yellow, and clouded. So off to the bath tub I went.

Gave it a real good bath....next step is to wash it again. It was covered in a yellowish film. Spent a good 45-60 minutes scrubbing and scrubbing. It's starting to look good. It's going to need another trip to the shower, and then I get to do plastic repairs, then electrical repairs, etc... I'll update this post again soon.

Started to work on it again tonight - got the transformer back in and tested. Amplifier is not working on one channel. Thats for tomorrow to look into. Got an idea to change the LED monitor bridge to light green - green - red. I think it turned out great.

Next mod was to brighten up the tuner display, so I went with a gorgeous shade of blue!

For the tuner mod, I measured the DC voltage across the solder points for the original bulb (14v). Removed the bulb and tried a few different placements. Settled on running a strip of LEDs under neath the tuner Needle.

Cleaned all the pots and switches, I had couple of small issues on the switches. The plastic dust catches all broke when trying to remove them. As careful as I was being I couldn't help it. The plastic was too brittle. I will most likely replace with foam. Here are some misc. pictures of the boards for the switches and pots.

Final stages of the resto, clean all the jewelry! I still haven't figured out why one channel does output any sound. I will save that for another time. Here is the final look at the unit with what i have done to date.
