Went ahead and added the Mission speakers and it sounds just amazing. Wasn't hard to do, just a lot of measuring to make sure everything lines up nicely. Some minor drilling and done. If you come across these speakers, snag 'em.

Interesting thing about these speakers is that I went for the upside down look. They are actually designed with the woofer to be on top and tweeter on bottom. I like them the other way around.

Side view of the speakers with the metal hardware.

View with the speaker grills on. Not trilled about this one, I'll leave them off.

Nice job Mario. Are those the original speaker brackets or did you fabricate them? It's very well done.

Nice addition! What kind of power is that unit pushing?
And hows it sound??? Are the Missions efficient?

Sorry for all the questions, but thats too cool not to ask!

Norm, the hardware came off the old speakers. Just a couple screws holding them in place. They can go back in a minute.

Master Z, the speakers range 20-50 watts at 6 ohms. The original speakers are also 6 ohms, so they are compatible. To be honest I don't fully know the wattage of the boombox but whatever it pushes out the Mission speakers handle with no problem. The box had a nice sound with the original speakers but what a difference these speakers make. The sound is just soooo much better, cleaner, crisp, and more bass. Not sure what you mean by "are they efficient"?

I can tell you that with batteries, these new speakers make this one heavy unit. Very heavy!

That's not a bad idea, Norm. I'll see if I can find some matching veneer for the top.

Great work! I have often discovered that as amazing as component systems can sound, there was always so much more to be had speaker wise with the available power. Not all can be done with mods as it can get screwed up, but this is not the case here. You matched impendance and have a set that is efficient and capable of making the most of the power available. I say again, Great work!
