Got this puppy for $54 shipped from ebay :w00t: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

The seller is an awesome packer  ;-) But when I opened the second box, these speaker dust cap on the left woofer was on the bottom. Obviously not the sellers fault considering the age of the box, and it gave me reason to replace the ugly black speakers for some white speakers  I replaced the broken antennea I had lying around from a cloner/donor so it has exact replacement aerials  It really thumps with the new speakers but some white lasonics would sound even better! I replaced the old tweeters with newer ones and now it really sounds nice :stereo: :stereo:

Definitely looks better than an original 4636

A deal considering that there was on that had a broken door, dings, dents etc for over $100

Thanks, believe it or not this box is as clean as my mint 931! And my near mint sz-5100 :w00t: So I have 3 lookers :-D

Only took me 5 minutes to have all the speakers and wires swapped out! I have been practicing on junkers and I am pretty good/fast with my hands working on model kits, and making bacon cheddar roastburgers in 14 seconds flat

Tactics with the boombox- IN and OUT as fast as possible to avoid losing interest in the project and having it become a parts box

I like this one.....those big allen bolts at the corners of the speakers are crazy. :-D

A beautiful box I've always wanted :w00t: congrats  I'm more than interested in the details of your speaker swap out.Where did you get the white woofers and different tweeters you fit in to your box? What are the Ohm ratings of both the old and new drivers. Did you use the same capacitors that came with the box or different ones?

thanks for all the nice feedback guys! I think the black speakers gave it a cheap plastic toy look to it but now it looks and sounds like a real blaster  ;-) :w00t:

Thanks for your interest! I used a destroyed LLOYDS PT003 for the cloner donor. It has the same internals, buttons, and battery covers, but the ohms and wattage are different. I used the aerials, tweeters and speakers from the ptoo3.
The original tweeters were 4 ohm 15 W and the speakers 4 ohm 20 watt

The new tweeters are 4 ohm 10 watt and speakers 4 ohm 15 watt but they sound nicers and deeper than the originals! The capacitors were virtualy the same so I just used the lloyds' parts. I am thinking of taking the mics out of the top, and replacing them with the orinal tweeters, giving it 4 tweeters total and two bassy speakers :stereo: :dj:
