Well after talking to Systemaddict (Aaron) last night for a good half a hour about Philips box's and how awesome there sound quality usually is, It got me in a buying mood and I stumbled across this gem on Fleabay. So I took a gamble and have bought her..

Looks in pretty good condition and hopefully in full working order as stated in the listing, if not though it will give me a few jobs for the month! :D

Anyways, here's a pic of the old girl.

Anyone know how hard these are to work on? Thinking about giving it a deep clean and getting it even more minty fresh :D

lovely box elliott-if its not 100 percent functioning bring it to me and we will have a look at it together  had one of these (got off of aaron)and it was a lovely big old box-nice warm bass sound and more chunky-better made-for the usual philips norm.you'll certainly love this one ;-) twin deck is always useful-if i had my way id have nothing but twin deckers

I like the double tuner needle

Interestingly, my Philips catalog says that all the bigger Philips boxes have the same power......2x10 watts.......including the:

D8734
D8614
D8714
D8814
D8634
Even the lowly D8514

All rated for the same power. I guess they all use the same amps.

That may be so Reli, but after owning all of them apart from the elephants, I gotta say the 8614 is the best sounding by far

Massive box indeed!! Long and a little on the heavy. Nice sounding with its spatial feature and great reception on the dial. A lot of features on this radio that I thought was ahead of its time too. The only thing I'd change would be the woofers. They hold this radio back. I hooked up a pair of L30 speakers up to it and with the tweeters this thing wailed like nobody's business. Bass was monstrous too. Enjoy it because it's a great box.

That is a gorgeous box! And from my hometown (Eindhoven, Netherlands) too. Feeling a little proud :D

The square woofer speakers would look and sound great on it.
