My latest cool thrift store find.

I know as an avid collecter that you can see those fake tweeters and tiny speakers coming down the pipe right away.
But just check out the beauty of this huge Realistic three piece that I found at my local thrift.
As I post this I am at work adding a new amp, new speakers, real tweeters, a Dynomat sound deadening gasket for each speaker,
and insulation for each cabinet.
What do you think of the looks?

I saw a Realistic in a thrift store recently for $10 and passed it up. Might be the same one.

I aggree with you there, that box does look cool!
The blue and grey design reminds me of some Mid 80's Sanyo three-piecers. NICE FIND!

Those Realistic and Modulaire boxes have a special place in my heart. Although they're very 'sensible' and utilitarian in design they were always in the 80s Tandy (.au RadioShack) catalogues that I'd avidly buy every year and then lust over all the cool gear I wanted. The fact I never got one of their radios back then (I opted for a Philips with an LED meter!) gives me a nice sentimental wish to collect all their models just like that one, OSS.
