Well, the title says it. I decided to try my lucky again and open the box and with a little violence (hey, it was only 7 Euros :-P ) I made it to open it without damaging anything...it was just a littly tricky and the screws were blocking it.
And I took the front off to clean it with hot soap water, it looks very good again!
I told you already that the tape was not working, wenn, here is why: The belts were melted in there! Literally black goo. UGH!
I did not have any fitting belt at home so I just tried rubber bands  to see if the conclusion I drew for placing the belts were right.
They were right and it turns properly but with the wrong rubber bands, it really sounds bad...too slow and not at a constant speed.
Anyway, I am going to get a few new belts for this thing and make it shiny again :-) .
I thought of giving it a custom look but decided not to because I want this to be my very first restoration project (except for the grills I did on my crown 850).
I am going to keep you updated about this nice little project which is going to be done quite fast after putting the belts back in.

And one thing that I noticed: The old owners had a bird: I found feathers and cornshells in the box :w00t:

Once again, nice work. At your age and the amount your collecting, by the time you are my age, you will have a 1,000 boxes!

Keep kicking butt! :ls-duel:

Boombox is fixed and cleaned...and working :w00t: :-D
It is not the best tape deck I ever heard but it is absolutely fine. The new belts are not the best ones either because the speed varies minimal but listening to music on it is still a pleasure :-) .

And you're probably right with your 1,000 boxes idea  But the sad thing is they become rarer and rarer :'-(
I think I said that before but i iwsh i was an 80s kid  I would so have gotten a NIB boombox xD
Oh boy, if I lived in the 80s...I would have gotten all those super rare grails and keep them as mint as they were...sadly so many boxes have been abused. But good thing this community saves some of them :-)
I am happy and proud to have saved the Siemens :-D

I did live through the 80's and I. Wish I had enough money to buy everything in those classic electronic store fronts. But I sure enjoied my radios back then. But I swear I love them more now!

Enjoy everyone you find!

Any word on the 777?
