That is a true statement Sony got the walkman industry going and Apple got the mp3/mp4 industry going with Ipod

WOW.....well....I personally do not want to see the iStation. Apple is so "Our Way or the Highway" with licensing and lock down of their products, I really don't want to see the Play Station format end up going down that road.

I'm sure once Google launches the "Google Death Star" into space in the next few years we will have something else to fear!

I used to be a huge Sony electronics fan back in the '90s, but now I don't really care one way or the other.

I don't know what is sadder: the fact that Sony is in this position - or - the thought of Apple designing even MORE throw-away electronics.

If Apple cooperated with Sony on a game system I'd be worried it would try to take over my house not unlike QuickTime does on my computer.

I'd rather see them come up with a search engine and push Google back into a corner.

SONY unfortunately only has (had ?) sporadic periods of "getting it".

Completely missed the hard-drive / MP3 boat while trying to remain relevant with their MiniDisc medium.

They basically let Apple redefine, then own, the category they created with the Walkman.

Then there were the dolts who actually planted their flag first in the MP3 category, RIO; remember them?

Ah the late 90's, good times......
