my esteemed WTF rant !!!

about 20 years ago --one of my local friends --was working the register
at our beach texaco station --it just so happened -
that one night - i was in there while he was playing some awesome// incredible
beautiful hot jazz music --on his boombox ...
i had never heard it before --it was so good --that i canceled whatever mega-important
plans i had that night --just to hang out and replay the tape -
a few times --
i just had to have it --so --he said i could take his tape home to make a copy

i asked him what quartet it was --and the album name ?

he said " its just ME --ALL ME " !!!!

i had known him for years --
but never knew he was a great musician -
and wrote all his own creations ...

on this recording --he was like stevie wonder " one man band "
it was him on the keyboards, piano , drums and quitar-

anyway --for the next month -- i prolly listened to it 500 times --
then --lent it to some airhead chick --who LOST it

continue soon -- need to wizzzz

so --no problem --i can make a new tape -right ??

WRONG :'-(
turns out --he had some 'child $$ support' issues --
and quickly vanished !!!
all said --he was hiding out down in key west

last nite -- 20 years later --i was tooling around the hood --in my golf cart
blasting some loud obnoxious fm trash on my no-name beater --

i see my kids bike --out in front of this chicks apartment --with some other
skateboards, etc -----sniffed out a party :
and was walking up to her pad ---

but --on the way --and just 2 apartment doors before hers -
i hear this spectacular LIVE hot jazz screaming thru the window

next --i hear my name being called -
yipeeeeeeeeeeeee --hes BACK

and playing the same awesome friggen great shitte he always did

along with a million other 'catch up' talk --
i had to admit that i lost my copy of his cassette --
and asked if i could borrow it --to copy another tape --

he looked at me like i was a cave man
and said " nobody uses tapes anymore
i will make you a CD"

so --what this rant all about ???

its about THIS --

i raced home --with the CD --and the only box i had --
all ready -- plugged in --and with a CD player
was my big kaboom-

i popped his CD in --
whipped out my remote -

and enjoyed the most musical --EASY and thrilling boombox
experience of my life !!!!!

between the huge bass and the CD manipulation and the remote --

i was having such a great time --
that i went---------------

WTF are we all doing with these old CLUNKY $$$$ expensive - undependable
cassette grails ???

do you guys use them much more often -
then all your traditional collections -- combined ????

Hmm... is it possible......... that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks? YES I say, my kaboom does get a lot of use. Even if it's not, it feels like it would be 10x's more reliable.
