This project started out as something I hoped I would be able to do. After seeing my white M70 my daughter made me promise to do one for her in blue. I found this extremely abused M70 on ebay for $40. It arrived in BAD shape. The front glass was shattered, handle was in 2 pieces, both speakers were torn in several places, paint splatter and mud everywhere...and thats just for starters. After testing the unit found everything working except the cassette...boy was I surprised. I disassembled the entire unit and sanded the rough surfaces. I reinforced and glued the handle back together. I repaired the torn speakers to the best of my ability. Then came hours of sanding and taping to prepair for paint. I used 4 coats of metallic blue paint with 3 coats of clear on the front case and 4 coats of metallic graphite with 3 coats of clear on the rear cover. I even put 3 coats of paint on the speaker ring hex bolts. Now this thing looks cherry!!...hard to believe I only spent $40 on her. Well it's my daughter's to enjoy now. Enjoy the pics....

Very nice... I honestly liked the white one more tho. :-P

Even tho it's your daughters now, do us all a BIG favor and DO NOT leave that box anywhere near the garage! :nonono: ;-) :-D

Lord knows we've had enough tragedy this year!

...you can say that again...I like the white one better too...once my front cover arrives it will be back together with some improvements...I did the blue one cause my baby girl wanted one...can't say no to that face...

Looks amazing Melly!! Your work is flawless.
Would've loved to have seen a before picture of how she arrived too.

Hope your daughter gets many years of performance and service from that blaster.

Rock On.

Naw, you can't really do that! However, what are gonna do if she starts scheming on an M90?

I just thought of something... Now that you've hooked her up again, that means that your daughter has 2 boxes, the JVC and the GE!

Sounds like she may have been seriously bitten by the boombox bug! :-D

That looks absolutely stunning compared to your description of how it showed up.
Now just keep it out of the driveway and we will all rest easy!!! :-P

...after I stripped the paint off the JVC logo it looked so good in chrome that I left it that way. I though about doing it in black....

Her is a pic I took before changing the color on the speakers. My daughter wanted white so I did it. Looks good in the original color but the white gives the blue a little more pop...
