Hi all. I think I mentioned in a previous post how I picked this TC-999 up on Craigslist locally for 200 big ones. Not a bad price but the decks were inoperable but I heard the motors running and it cost about $35 for a set of belts for upper and lower including the tape counter. It also had a couple of broken switches.
I asked around here because I wanted to maybe add some lighting, especially to the tuner section and the tape well on the lower deck but gave up because I figured it was more hassle than it was worth. I remembered watching a Techmoan video where he had reviewed a few of those add-on spectrum analyzer/LED meters and looked around on EBay. I had forgotten that I already had one around from a year or so ago for a project that I never started but it slipped my mind.
Anyway, I found one on Ebay that kind of matched the look of the box but still had no idea of where I was going to mount them. I was hoping to mount them underneath the second deck even though it would cover up the majority of the inputs but I don’t see myself using those much anyway. Long story short, they would had not looked right there as they would had jutted out too much and then you have the problem with the cabling.
I settled on the top center of the box and I used mounting tape to secure. They looked and worked well and added some pizazz and then I was going through something else and found the original spectrum analyzer/bar graph/ clock thing that I never used and said to myself “hmmâ€. I mounted that on the top of the first two and angled it slightly back so I can still use the handle. I will probably just use it as a clock because how many flashing lights does one person really need? I know, stupid question 🙂
Anyway, I have taken a few pictures so you can see it in action and the different views of the bar graph thing. They all run on USB cables which I have snaked back and bundled together nicely to keep it somewhat tidy. Let me know what you think!
