i never though a plastic case could make the floor vibrate but it does, i have 8 inch jvc subwoofers with jvc mid's and tweeters from a jvc gigatube. the woofers have more excursion than i ever though i would see from a boombox , the pc210 amplifier has extra large capacitors , i was really shocked how beefy the amp is and drives the setup with ease. i thought it might sound hollow but i was shocked that it sounds loud and smooth as can be .mind you i did not just cut a hole and shove the 210 center section in , i removed all the electronics and had to make mounts to support the deck and pc boards, not only that but the box has all the functions and is fully working .

it's getting cold up here i would love to come down there for some beers women and sound battles.

the case is from a lasonic 935 , every other part of the box is from a jvc pc 210 except the speakers which came from a jvc gigatube . sounds more like a jvc kaboom than a 1 piece box , but this will easily destroy a kaboom.the woofers are bigger and better not to mention 3 1/2 inch mids and 2 inch tweeters with passive crossovers.i ended up using conion c100 grills because the trc 931 grills were too shallow and the woofers smacked into the grills.

Omg...would never have thought of splicing two boxes together...genius. Trouble is I'll be eyeing up boxes now to see if I can cut and shut to create a monster! I want video! :)

thanks fellas , i did not butcher up any good boxes to make this , i been saving parts and junk boxes for the last year or so planning this monster , i'm just glad the sumbitch didn't blow up when i turned it on.

tanks guy's i don't have a video camera, and the box is still pretty fragile and weighs over 30 pounds , i have more cutting and mock up to do before the final assembly . i hope the handle don't break because it will fall apart like a house of cards until i re-enforce the case and inner supports.

Floyd....as I said before....YOU ARE A MADMAN! :jason:

I can't believe how well that JVC fits into the 935 case! When I first built the louder blaster with those Kicker subs, it was amazing that it didn't destroy the case. I bet since the 935 is bigger, you've got even more bottom end!

Your designs over the years are wild and inspiring bro!

Can't wait for more pictures!

This reminds me of the guy who married a Ford Capri (South African Peranha spec, with the same 5 litre V8 as found in Mustangs) floorpan, bulkheads and other structural pressings with the carefully removed bodyshell of a split screen '54 Morris Minor, itself also a unitary so that job wasn't a relatively simple chassis and shell swap. That car has now been running for a good twenty years in its hacked about form, I suspect that this mad crossbreed boombox will be every bit as wild if a little safer on wet roads, Lovin' it!

Not just loving it but inspired by it as I have the working contents of a collision-damaged PC-11 that I recently bought from eBay purely for its rear wiring cover. I also have one of those early '90s Hitachi boxes with the "Turbo bass" labels and four speakers across its front, all kicking out the exact same muddled noise.   Anyway, its cabinet is deep from front to back. Deep enough for some decent electronics. If only I didn't have several thousand jobs that are more important and need to be done before I drown under ancient electronic landfill candidates.

Good luck with this one, I too shall be watching with interest for more on this crazy, yet brilliant build!

thanks fella's , i'm not letting this one drag on incomplete, i spent 4 hours yesterday fitting the grill plates and mounting the dust caps and securing the transformer. i still have to cut and graft the pc 210 battery box into the lasonic case , i will have 2 battery compartments , 1 extra to run and extra amp and led lights. hard to get it all in one shot but here's what i got so far , know the pic's suck.
