Hello, it's a D-7S, not sure the year I got it had to be around 85, just found the original owners manual and it is dated 1985 right now it sounds like nothing cause it doesn't work:

actually I think it was the 2nd one, they weren't even called "discman" back than. As soon as my tech catches up with my tapedeck and Freddies radio I'm going to take the Sony to him. He used to work for Sony doing service, 15 years worth he should be able to figure it out, parts on the other hand may be a problem.

Really? I always thought mine was a D-7 until I dug out the manual and it says D-7S, Does yours work? years back in NY a local stereo store was going out of business and had a bin of stuff for sale real cheap and they had the battery pack so I bought it, but mine still didn't come on even after charging the new battery. I took it apart 2 Saturdays ago but nothing looked out of place. I also have the original case and strap for it.

do you know what year yours is from? As far as I can find out the D-50 was the first model than the D-7, their also is one that looks identical to mine but has a radio build into it.

when the tech gets done with my Aiwa tape deck and Freddie's Sony, I'm going to have him look at the D-7 see what he says.
