A short time ago there was a post here looking for radio's for a music video shoot in Los Angeles. I contacted the people who posted and have been emailing back and forth. Now, today is the day!

I am heading to downtown Los Angeles, about 70 miles from where I live to be involved with the shoot as a "Technical Advisor" per the video producer's request.

I am taking my big 3 Lasonic's with me, per his request.

I also put him in touch with Albert, owner of Lasonic and they will be providing many more boomboxes for the shoot.

I will keep you guys up to date and try to take some pictures.

The video shoot is for a band called BLACK BANANAS (aka Jennifer Herrema, formerly of Royal Trux).

Hey Guys,

Well that was a long day! I had no idea what to expect and all I can say was....IT WAS AWESOME!

Lasonic donated 7 radio's, a TRC-935, 951, two versions of the 931 (MK3) and three i931's. I brought the TRC-935, 951, 975.

Lots of pictures were taken and I want to send them to the man in charge of the shoot and get the OK before I post away, just out of respect. Of course when this video is done, I will post the video link and all the behind the scenes pictures and there are allot.

Mike, the video producer asked me to come down as a "Technical Advisor". I really didn't know what that entailed.

What I learned is, it's a butt load of work!

Basically it went like this, I arrived on a green screen set in downtown Los Angeles near the LA Coliseum (the worst freeways in the world). The radio's from Lasonic were already there.

The first thing I did was build a 9 radio wall, wire them up, plug them in and tune them to an FM transmitter. Some filming was done with band members.

Then it was a tear down and build two small stacks, one that looked like a guitar amp (hard to explain, you'll see it and go, whao!). The other was a triple stack of two 935's and one 975.

Then there was a close up with the lead singer and a, i931.

No doubt it's a full on Lasonic commercial, but that's what the producer wanted and they are going to give Lasonic credit's at the end.

Even the band members thought the best part of the shoot were the radio's and they looked SWEET under professional lighting. I was able to keep an eye on my radios, no one touched them but Mike and I and there were no casualties.

I spent allot of time fielding radio questions, it was really cool.

In the end, Mike, the producer was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He paid me for my time and gas, what else can you ask for.

Oh, and I got to crank my radio's as loud as I wanted the whole time because they used my radio's as the "Playback" for the video shoot!

It was a good day in Blaster Town! :-D

   Thanks Gordie! It is fun to share and totally blow peoples minds. There has never been a time where I haven't walked into a room with a blaster and had someone just flip out. You can literally watch the flood of memories wash into their mind as they are transported back to the time when "Dude, I totally used to have one of those!" Sharing a boombox or sharing music with a boombox is still a magical thing.

But doing a video shoot is allot of work and the more radio's you bring, the more work it is!

I forgot to mention....

One of the people at the video shoot was "Robot" dancer FLAT TOP. Do any of you know how he is? He was in the web series The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers

The man was amazing to watch do his thing live and one hell of a nice guy.

Here is a short video of him doing his thing that I found on You Tube
