well maybe the guy pushed one to many zeros when entering the ammount for the bid.
for that price you could probably find someone to scratch build you a killer boombox.
i mean good on him if someone can pay that much and good on the fellow paying it because he is obviously a wealthy person. :-)

Well, I can't blame them - those huge Sharps are so good looking. My GF-777 has replaced my JVC M90 as my main boombox. The sound quality isn't the same, but the Sharp looks like a hundred bucks, and the M90 looks like $75 and change - and I'm drunk all the time anyway, so who cares about sound quality

Well, I noticed that certain things in Australia seem to be harder to get than in the States where these are much more common. So... if you live in Australia and WANT one of these, there really isn't that much choices. I've been asked to quote shipping charges to Australia before and let me just say not only is it exhorbitant, there is serious limitations on package size. Some large things simply isn't possible to ship in the normal manner. The packed box will exceed the size limitations. I'm sure all these in combination is the formula for high bidding on rare (for AU) goods.

BTW, I also noticed that there basically is 2 bidders fighting with each other for this box. Every once in a while, when the stars are in alignment...........

if you lived in au you could fly to hk or china and most likely come back with a lot more than just one vintage boomer.
i mean seriously tho i really think it would make more sense to do just that.
you might not get one in a box but i am positive you could scoop some nice boxes and take a great holiday at the same time.

This is in my watched list.

No, I'm not in the bidding, just out of sheer wonderment and curiosity :-D

*I'd struggle to find the first 3 digits of the price right now

I think this statement from another eBay member is quite funny.
Dude this is the highly sought after Japanese release (black speakers).

ALL the Sharp 767/777/909/919/999 boxes come with black speakers. If you have grey speakers, they are faded. If the speakers are black, you don't necessarily have the "rare" Japanese release.   :dunce:

My rare Japanese 919 version (that went too 108fm dial and was 110 voltage) speakers were a light Brownish/Tan color. What's up with that then?

WOW!

The thing is though, who saved the picture of the GF-767 packing box? :-D

.......I have, and they are ULTRA rare! So rare that I have never seen one before!!!

You could probably sell the packing box alone for $200 !
