I think that's an optical illusion Chris. If you look at the tape door it seems just a little smaller then the speaker. I believe that most cassette doors are around 5"or so, I'd guess that speaker is 6". Just a guess though.

Yeah, I think your right.

Still wonder what model that is....I think I'll pop over to Wiki Boombox and poke around!

The only GE's I know that have 8" speakers are the 6000, and 6035. There's also the Loewes version, the RS 2000 which is pretty bad ass!I looked everywhere for the one you posted but has no luck. If you find it let me know! Thanks!

Ps Now I'm interested in knowing all the mono boxes with at least an 8" woofer. I know the JVC 550 has a 10" but would love to see a list of the rest.

I think there is a Sony mono with an 8" speaker :hmmm:

I would think that...
Very few manufacturers made 8" mono boxes
Probably sold in lower volumes due to cost. If you were spending bigger money, buy a "New Fangled 2 speaker box with Fantastic Stereo!!!"

BUT, it sure would be awesome to have a display of 8" speaker mono's across the wall :rock:
