I'm a bit new to boombox collecting but one rule I try to stick to is not to go after boxes with missing buttons or slider tops. Anyway I almost put a bid on an ebay Hitachi with a good few missing buttons last night. This got me was wondering how easy it is to source missing switches or if anyone has attemted to cast switches from araldite or jb weld, if you're in america?

I think a good rule of thumb is that the rarer the box the longer your search may be for original buttons/sliders, the more common the box the easier it will be to source. I think a good few of us have a large button/knob collection so replacement that work and fit may be easier for us to find, you will have the same stockpile as time goes buy.

We also have the amazing Mr Trommel who makes a great deal of knobs and switches.

Dont let a few missing put you off a great deal just bear in mind the above.
