Lets face it, if you're missing the battery door, then that's it for the mobility of your Boomer.
These things are like snowflakes, no two are alike unless they come from the same box.
The only option I know of is ugly messy tape.
Are there any others??
Has anyone solved the missing battery door equation??

:hmmm: There is a foundation for this as a matter of fact; The G.M.Y.U.O.M.S.P.B.F.A.C. Give Me Your Unwanted And Missing Some Pieces Boombox For Another Chance foundation

All you do is send your broken and unwanted boomboxes to this address- MY PLACE

Really though, keep them! You can still make your own! And there are more perfect fits out there than you know!

that right :-)
if you need to SELL the box --
then , of course - having the original // matching color battery cover
is $$ important --

but to just carry around and enjoy your boxes --
a semi-close fitting piece of wood --
with eiither velcro or tape --will surely keep your batteries in place.

Ira is the master of the wood battery door but he's right it's only critical come sale time because without the battery door the price will be much lower. Goes the same for buying to, no battery door equals lower price.

It didn't stop the discolite missing it's cover going for over a grand this week!

I'm missing one for my Radiotone, but it wasn't too hard to hack something close to fitting together. It would seem theres lots of very small and adjustable variations to the 3 usual styles which are 2 x Dcells long by 1 high, 4 x Dcells long x 1 high and then the 4 x 2 panel type one. The clips are always going to be the hardest to move around though, thin plastic at 90 degree angles to the cover most times, but a bit of experimentation goes a long way.

Hope you can make up a substitute of some kind OSS!

Rock On.

The Discolite makes bidders exceptionally dumb, crazy or just makes them temporarily insane. We've seen trashed Discolites go for $500 or more. These really are the exception but not exceptional. :nonono:

It will have a much lower resale value. If you don't use boxes outside a lot it is just as enjoyable and useful though.I have a Sankei I really love the sound of that is missing the battery door. That boxes door is almost full length and its a very wide box.The boxes price reflected the decreased value for not having a battery door.If I were to resell it I would probably get what I paid for it so it's really no loss that way. It's an amazing sounding box but not particularly good looking.I still love it.Figure that you get better sound indoors and with a battery cover off anyway. That way you don't have to worry about rattles which really annoys me.

well i have maybe 2 or 3 that are missing the battery door, for example my m90 which is a beater is missing the door but i found that conion c100 fit and one of the panny 50 series uses a battery door that is almost exactly but you have to shave a little bit on both sides and prepare the bottom hooks so it will hook inside,, i always try to save any cover when i see a junker box laying around in the trash and people always throw boxes like that in the trash always have a small screw driver to pull the antenna off and remove the battery cover unless you are willing to take it home and rip her apart for some parts and since its newer boxes not much can really be salvaged but you can save the battery cover speakers antenna just in case you need to repair or modify.....
